Electronic invoices become the norm

Throughout Europe, electronic invoices are becoming increasingly important. A driving force of these changes is the consistent legislative policy at European Union level. As a result of these activities, the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Technology, in cooperation with the Institute of Logistics and Warehousing, has started a project aimed at creating a “Platform for intermediation of electronic invoicing for the sphere of public finances”, in short PEF.

PEF’s goal is to dematerialise invoices and other documents sent between public procurement contractors and contracting authorities. The need to build the Electronic Invoicing Platform comes mainly from the need to support enterprises and public administration in Poland in achieving organisational and technical readiness to implement cross-border economic processes using modern technologies, as well as enabling participation of public finance units and enterprises in the EU public procurement market.

The synergy of experience, knowledge and competences gained in completely different business conditions allowed Softiq and Edison, forming the PEF Expert consortium, to win a contract for the implementation of the services of an Electronic Invoicing Platform broker. As legal regulations sanctioning PEF will start from April 2019, we will be able to observe how this process will take place in Poland in the coming months.
