ZUS is Poland’s largest and most important government organization, responsible for social insurance matters for the general public. It has more than 300 branches throughout Poland, the ZUS portal is the most visited website in the country and is used by over 30mn residents.

What was the business need?

The zus.pl website is a huge source of information about the activities of the entire population. Until now, the portal was based on the Liferay 6.2 platform. At SOFTIQ, we were responsible for transferring the portal to function smoothly on the latest version of Liferay (DXP 7.3).

What was the challenge?

It was a very intricate and complicated project due to the size of the data set. The portal was created many years ago, and as a result, in addition to a huge amount of static content, it contained a lot of “tailor-made” solutions, which were very difficult and sometimes impossible to maintain over time

How did we do it?

At SOFTIQ, we provided the client with licenses for a new software version and prepared and migrated the entire platform to the latest version. The main goal was to eliminate all “tailor-made” solutions and replace them with Liferay’s native ones. We also organized and slimmed down the portal from outdated areas that were no longer in use.

Project team and process flow:

  1. PHASE I – Initialization – detailed analysis of the source, consultation on infrastructure configuration, creation of the backlog
  2. PHASE II – Migration – installation of the Liferay 7.3 portal, migration of existing portal configuration, data, themes, templates, and customizations
  3. PHASE III – Testing – functional testing, performance testing, penetration testing
  4. PHASE IV – Implementation – user and administrator training, trial migration, production deployment, post-implementation Liferay 7.3 customer support (CMS, publishing, process, administration)
